The Town of York is a great place to live!!!

We envision the Town of York as a rural farm-friendly
community maintaining quality ground water, managed woodlands, wildlife
and streams. Residences are located to preserve productive farmland.
Population density and retail development are controlled by a land use plan.

Wisconsin Statute 66.1001 requires each town to have a comprehensive
plan by 2010 or have no land use regulatory powers.

The Town of York in cooperation with Green County and other towns of
Green County started their Smart Growth process in the summer of 2003.

The required elements of the comprehensive plan are:

· Issues and opportunities element
· Housing element
· Transportation element
· Utilities and community facilities element
· Agricultural, natural and cultural resources element
· Economic development element
· Intergovernmental cooperation element
· Land use element
· Implementation element

Public participation is extremely important at each step of the process.
All residents, property owners or anyone doing business in the Town of
York are welcome.
