This year’s spring
primary is very important to all our York citizens. We will need to narrow the field in two areas of government
– education and judicial. Candidates
running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction are:

Mobley
Lowell E. Holtz
Tony Evers
Green County will be
electing its first time ever Circuit Court Judge, Branch 2.
Candidates running for this newly created office are:

All voters in Wisconsin municipalities will be required to register in order to vote after January 1, 2006. Every person wishing to vote will need to fill out an application. You will need a valid driver’s license with you. If you do not have a valid driver’s license, you will need to present your Social Security card for identification. Only the last four digits will be recorded.
Your license number will need to be validated and signed in the presence of the Town Clerk.

by Absentee Ballot
Any qualified elector may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U. S. citizen who will be 18 years of age or older on election day, who has resided in the Town of York at least 10 days before the election.
1. Request in writing an absentee ballot. An application for absentee ballot is available by contacting the Town Clerk (523-4529). Contact the Town Clerk for any special circumstances, such as confinement to a care facility or home, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. Request must include local address and address to which ballot is to be sent, and your signature.
2. Deadline for applying for absentee ballot: 5 p.m. Friday before election
3. Deadline for voting absentee ballot in the clerk’s home: 5 p.m. Monday before election.
4. All mailed absentee ballots must be received by the town clerk before the polls close on election day.
5. Absentee ballots are available 30 days before each September primary and General Election, 21 days before each other Primary and Election.
6. Absentee ballots may be requested and mailed by fax or e-mail. The ballot must have the initials of the town clerk on it, and hard copy of the request and of the ballot must follow in regular mail. The certificate or request for voting must be witnessed and signed by one person.
